Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) introduces HYKE - Smart City Ferry, a next generation electric and autonomous Ferry and High-Speed modular vessel for inland waterways and open seas at ShipBuild India Expo Summit 2022, Mumbai

The Hyke – A Smart City Ferry offers a ground-breaking approach to Vessel design and innovative technology. With the increase in congestion-induced delay and increasing travel times on the roads, Hyke offers a solution for ease of transportation across the water without any hassle. The multi-purpose capability of the vessel enables serving tourism and logistics market leading to revenue generation. Technologically advanced and significantly lighter vessel comes with a PAX capacity of 50 people and electric propulsion with speed upto 13 Knots. With its advanced features, the vessel is Cheaper to build, operate and contributes to the environment by leaving no carbon footprint.

The vessel also offers features of automatic propulsion and self-charging ability with the concept of Hyke Charging Jetty. The Jetty designed to automatic integrated docking and charging of the vessels and further can be utilised for 3rd party vessels as well using standard interface charging. The vessel would be the game-changer for the developing project of Indian Inland waterways.

   

The modular vessel namely P-42 is a super-speed boat with a proven speed of 70 Knots and with a Dimensional strength of 7G having the capability of facing more beating, higher speeds in harsh and rough conditions of sea when other vessels breakdown. The basic modular vessel hull can be implemented for various applications/ attributes needed where customers can customize the vessel to their needs like:

  1. Military applications (Patrol, Anti-Submarine Warfare)
  2. Marine Police
  3. Firefighter
  4. Search & Rescue
  5. Ambulance
  6. Harbour patrol
  7. Coast Guard
  8. High-end sports recreational vessels.

With a length of 13.8 mtrs, hull, driveline and architecture of the boat are based on field proven P-42 platform and pre-engineered module system allows for short delivery schedule.

    

HSL being a premium shipyard of the country has continously strived towards strengthening the profile diversity through adapting modern technologies. Roping in of Hyke and P-42 vessel with advanced technology into HSL arena is a step towards achieving its ultimate goal of providing quality and advanced products to customers.
